The Book Was Better -- Or Was It?

Reading a novel before watching its TV/film adaption(s) is the correct order of doing things. Going the other way around I always find it challenging to picture my own visuals of a book's world and characters: seeing first someone else's vision of it and then replacing it is difficult. It's like most of the author's work had already been done and experiencing the story again via reading feels otiose. Comparing my own, already existing mental images to an adaption is more worthwhile.

Half a Year of Cinema

In the past few years, my interest at watching movies has been constantly dropping. However, when I get movie tickets as a present, I aim to use them all. For the last half a year I have had unusually many of them -- I even won one from a scratchy thing on the side of a juice box -- and thus I have been to the movie theater quite a few times lately.

Top 4 Movies of 2011

In 2011, I saw four movies that, in my opinion, deserve four stars. No all-time favorites this year either, but I guess I don't expect them pop up all but very rarely.

Top 3 Movies of 2010

It's the last day of the year once again, and all these lists of the best/worst things are popping up left and right. So here's mine - the top three movies I saw in year 2010. They're also the only three movies I gave four stars with my simple system; no five star movies this year.

How I Rank Movies

If you are reading this, you might have noticed the list of the last five movies I've seen on the right. Each movie has one to five stars after it, which represents how good I think it was. I have a quite simple system determining the amount of stars any movie is worth, although I didn't know exactly how it worked before writing this post...

Avatar 3D

I heard about James Cameron's Avatar for the first time last summer. It was mentioned in Empire as one of the upcoming movies, and if I recall correctly, that was pretty much everything it said. But only the title was enough to make me type it in my cell in the list of movies that I should watch.
