For a few years, I had been wondering why the number of games I had achievements in wasn't matching between my Steam library and the achievement showcase on my profile: the showcase had 2 games more than I could find. Late last year the mystery finally started to unravel. I had figured that by playing Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III during a free weekend back in 2017, it had been added to my permanent achievements record, even though I had had access to the game only temporarily. And that indeed proved to be the case when I bought the game from a sale and it came with partial completion -- kind of mean for Steam to be like that.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III
Here is a game I did not finish this last year and probably never will either. It had a free weekend -- a second one in fact, so desperate were/are they to get people to play it -- and I decided to try going through its singleplayer campaign during it. I got to mission 5 until I uninstalled the game and removed it from my wishlist. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III -- what the hell happened?

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II - Retribution
I happened to notice an oddity in Dawn of War II - Chaos Rising's Steam global achievement stats as only 7% of people have the most unlocked one. I wonder if they were added later when Games For Windows Live got ditched because that is a really low percentage. Usually at least 40% of people have the first achievement of any given game on Steam from what I have seen.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II - Chaos Rising
It has been some time since I last played a Warhammer 40,000 game, and even longer since I played Dawn of War II. Thus I decided to replay the original campaign the standalone expansion Chaos Rising comes with as well. To remind myself how it was and also because you can import your save into CR's campaign and have maybe slightly better equipment at the beginning.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine is a third person shooter/action game from Relic Entertainment. It has a linear and predictable storyline, though that is to be expected from a Wh40k title; no plot twist should surprise you in this game. Just sit back, smash them up, and enjoy the blood splatter and shiny particles spraying everywhere.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II
Relic Entertainment decided to not make just improvements to the original game but instead they took the Dawn of War series into a new direction. I liked the first game (and all its expansions); it's the only real-time strategy game I'm any good at. The grim and dark setting helps a quite bit as well.
