Exit Strategy

The Murderbot Diaries continue with Exit Strategy. I don't have a lot say about it; it's quite like the previous ones. The Murderbot reunites with characters of the first novella and continues its fight against the evil corporation(s).

Artificial Condition & Rogue Protocol

The volumes 2 and 3 of The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells are likewise novellas -- fairly entertaining quick and easy reads.

All Systems Red

All Systems Red by Martha Wells is a science fiction novella, the first volume in The Murderbot Diaries. The book was sort of an impulse pick for me. I had heard the series was adapted into an Apple TV show, and thought I might check out what the books are about. The novella length surprised me, though: the hard covers could have held a full novel inside them but there turned out to be not that much text on the pages. And I suppose not that many pages either: 191 in the Finnish translation.

Slow Bullets

Slow Bullets is another shorter form science fiction story by Alastair Reynolds. I wish Like -- who's the publisher for the Finnish translations of the author's books -- had prioritized the short story anthology with the Netflix-adapted Zima Blue and Beyond the Aquila Rift over these one-off novellas because then that collection would most likely be available at the library and I could actually read it. Maybe one day...

Permafrost (& Neuromancer revisited)

I came upon Permafrost, an Alastair Reynolds novella at one of the local libraries, and ended up reading it right then and there -- being a novella it's not a long read. Its theme didn't turn out to be the greatest -- has there ever been a good time travel story? Permafrost also uses first person perspective, which is atypical for Reynolds.
