The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (Game of the Year Edition) was 50% off in February on GOG.com and I decided it was finally time to finish the series. The game and its two expansions turned out to be as good as people had praised them to be, and I truly enjoyed the 175 hours (!) it took me to beat the full package. Witcher 3 has some flaws, but it is, without a doubt, a strong contender for the title of the best game ever made.

I do not generally like board games. Or rather, the enjoyment I get from playing them comes mostly from the company I am playing with and rarely from the game itself. Over the years I have given some thought to why this is, and I think it comes down to how little – for me – most board games tend to live outside themselves.

For The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, CD Projekt RED developed their own game engine. And with it they created one of the most beautiful PC games there are -- at least if your machine is up to the task. Mine was not.

The Witcher

The Witcher is an RPG developed and published by a Polish company, CD Projekt Red. The game is based on the books of their fellow countryman, Andrzej Sapkowski, and more precisely on the main character, Geralt of Rivia, who is one of the few remaining witchers -- monster hunters for hire.
