NEON STRUCT

The other indie immersive sim included in Steam's 0451 sale I later bought was NEON STRUCT (as it's stylized), in the cover art also subtitled Die Augen Der Welt ('the eyes of the world'). It's only a 90 MB download, which is kind of impressive but the small size also means you won't be getting much in terms of assets.

Simple stealth game

You do get a reasonably lengthy game though. But with repeating environments, lack of voice acting, and fairly repetitive gameplay that's not too great of a thing. Neon Struct is very much in the footsteps of Deus Ex (including music) but only features stealth gameplay: there are no guns. There is a handful of gadgets but enemies offer barely any variation when it comes to passing them unnoticed.

Story is in the vein of Deus Ex as well. You are Jillian Cleary working as a spy for some agency. There are global conspiracies, going rogue and such but it doesn't get depth or personality.

Neon Struct is an arcadey game you play mostly for the (repetitive) challenge. The graphics are too abstract and level design simple and barren for me too get immersed in it. The game even has exactly 5 geocaches hidden on each level which just adds to the arcadey feel. Its gameplay, the controls, do feel tight though. You can even sprint into a slide and grab onto ledges. If only there was combat as well.

Neon Struct and Spirits of Xanadu too are technically worth their sale prices but you might as well not buy them at all. You won't be missing anything of true value.
