All's Well That Ends Well

So, I'm done with Battlestar Galactica at last. And damn, I almost hate to say this, but the series finale was a good one. And if something ends well, it can't be entirely bad. It would have been so easy for me to judge this show as one of the worst after the torturing four seasons, but now I just can't do it, not after a finale like this.

The finale, Daybreak part 2, was a good one but it wasn't perfect. First of all, the god/higher being crap should've been erased completely - especially Starbuck's comeback from death and the magical disappearance after her 'mission' was done... So incredibly stupid. And the '150,000 years later... "All this has happened before, and all of it will happen again."' also felt unnecessary. Although, it did underline the message of the show.

The real perfect place to end the episode - and the series - would have been the scene where (William) Adama is sitting next to Roslin's grave, telling how the heavenly sunrises there remind him of her.

Still, the well carried out action part of the finale to save Hera, combined with the happy ending, pulls Battlestar Galactica out of the abyss it travelled all the way to the end. To see everyone (well, everyone still alive) finally getting the new home, after all the shit and suffering, really gives you a feeling of satisfaction. But the best sci-fi show of all time? Ahahaha, no way.

One of the things that really bugged me were the characters and some of the outright stupid things they did throughout the series. For instance, after finding out Tyrol and the three others are cylons, obviously the right course of action is to take your child and run to nearest airlock to throw yourself into space, instead of, let's say, to tell someone about them?

I'm happy it's finally over.
